Anyone else a terrible gift-giver? Okay, maybe I’m not terrible, but I’ve definitely had my struggles. Aside from the usual video games and sports stuff, I always have a hard time finding something thoughtful to give my husband and my dad. What do you get a guy who has everything?
I recently discovered Don Roberto Jewelers and was really impressed by their selection of men’s jewelry, watches, and even sunglasses. There is a lot to choose from, but I went through and narrowed it down to my top 5 perfect holiday gifts for the guy in your life.
Disclosure: Earlier this week we were invited to a media event check out the Holiday Snow Days & Winter Nights offerings at Legoland California. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
LEGOLAND California is having a SNOW DAY! Well, lots of snow days, actually. From now through January 3rd, 2016 you can add snowman building, snow ball throwing, and sledding to your list of fun things to do at LEGOLAND! [Read more…]
This is a sponsored post, written on behalf of SocialStars for Playskool, as part of the #PLAYSKOOLCREW ambassador program. We are sharing about how the Playskool Sesame Street Play All Day Elmo toy is a perfect Holiday companion!
The Holidays can be a stressful time for adults, but did you know it can be stressful for little ones as well? Between the heightened amount of activities, frequent company at home, pressure to behave for Santa, and watching mom and dad get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Holiday errands, there are quite a few reasons for an extra meltdown or two. Not to mention that whole sitting in a stranger’s lap while mom takes pictures tradition…
I’ve found that having a familiar friend helps ease some of the Holiday stress, and for us that friend is our Playskool Sesame Street Play All Day Elmo toy. Although he’s made to play games and activities, Elmo is still cuddly, and a great companion.
Our Playskool Sesame Street Play All Day Elmo toy has saved us from a few meltdowns in public while Holiday shopping. In preschool mode he keeps little ones really busy with games like Hop and Count, Pat-a-Cake (our favorite), Freeze Dance, Elmo Says, Red Light Green Light, and more!
When placed in Nap Mode, he yawns and plays a soft lullaby, though Mini is more inclined to put him to bed than herself.
Mini is almost two years old, and her and Elmo are just inseparable right now. With both a preschool mode and a toddler mode, the Playskool Sesame Street Play All Day Elmo toy makes a great gift for little ones anywhere between the ages of 18 months to 4 years.

What does your family do for the holidays? With the kids out of school, and my husband having a little over a week off of work, we love to take a little mini-vacation right after Christmas. Since the weather in Southern California is perfect, we never stray too far from home. Even though we’re only a few hours away, it’s nice to stay in a hotel and spend time exploring a city that we usually just pass through. Whether you live in Southern California, or hours away, Knott’s Merry Farm is a wonderful place to spend a vacation.
Reason number one to take a trip to Knott’s this Holiday season: Right now you can get the 2016 Season Pass for only $81 (or 6 payments of $13.50) and it includes a visit in 2015 too! If you plan on visiting a few times over the course of a year, it’s a great investment, and makes for cheaper mini-vacations down the road. Between Merry Farm, the Boysenberry Festival, Knott’s Spooky Farm, and the upcoming 75th anniversary of Ghost Town, there are a lot of great excuses to come back throughout the year!
Reason number two to take a trip to Knott’s this Holiday season: Bring a little magic to your family trip. Knott’s Merry Farm that takes the cake as my favorite Holiday event to attend with my family. There is just something so wonderful about seeing the awe on my children’s faces as they watch the big Knott’s Merry Farm Christmas Tree light up Calico Square, or chat with Santa in his Christmas Cabin. When the “snow” falls on their heads in Ghost Town at night, to them, that’s magic.
Reason number three to take a trip to Knott’s this Holiday season: Treats galore! Knott’s sure has a way with food, and every season brings some different treats. During Knott’s Merry Farm they have some extra special offerings that you just have to try! Some of my favorites are Santa’s Homemade Cookies, the Holiday Churros from the Churro Factory, and freshly baked Gingerbread Men from the Farm Bakery! And of course you have to wash them down with a warms and delicious Boysenberry Latte from the Gourmet Coffee Hut.
Reason number four to take a trip to Knott’s this Holiday season: A mélange of majestic music! I love all of the different musical acts that perform throughout the park. From the Calico Carolers who bring cheer all throughout Knott’s Christmas Crafts Village, to Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, who combine comedy and bluegrass in the Birdcage Theatre, to The Ghost Town Miners on the Fireman’s BBQ stage, there’s great music all around. If that’s not enough, you can also hear Holiday music all throughout the park, or head to one of the great live shows.
Reason number five to take a trip to Knott’s this Holiday season: There’s never a dull moment! Whether you’re watching an outstanding performance of Merry Christmas, Snoopy! in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre, dancing along with the Peanuts gang in the Camp Snoopy Theater during Christmas Time is Here, Charlie Brown, or chatting with the cheery Ghost Town residents on Christmas on Engine 41, there’s always something exciting going on! Not to mention all of the thrilling rides throughout the entire park. You’ll never hear an “I’m bored” come out of any of your family’s mouths, because they will be having way too much fun!
Knott’s is the place to be for the Holidays and beyond! Be sure to get your 2016 Season Pass so you won’t miss a moment of fun!

This time of year is bittersweet for me. I absolutely love that we spend a lot more time with my husband’s side of the family. His parents, uncle, grandma, and brothers all live very close to us and we have family dinner and game nights often. However, my family lives all over the place, with my mom, dad, brother and a few cousins, and more cousins and aunts and uncles in Nevada. The opportunities to spend quality time with any of them are few and far between, so I have to take advantage of technology, such as calls, texts, facebook, and skype, to keep me as close to them as possible. I’m always impressed with how our family members are so great at picking out gifts for us and for each other. I hate being the lame-o buying gift cards but I am always so uninspired. This year I vowed to be a little more creative and really up my gifting game. I started buying gifts really early, picking up things here and there when I thought someone might really like it, instead of waiting until the last minute and scrambling for something I think they might like.
