I received free products from MegaFood to facilitate my post. All opinions are my own and no other compensation was received.
“I never get sick,” is a thing people have probably heard me say a lot. And for the most part it’s true. When a virus goes traipsing through my house, I’m usually the only one left standing. (And the one taking care of everyone, naturally.)
Recently, we took a trip from our home in Southern California, all the way across to country to the East Coast and back. In our van.
Yep, we drove four kids all the way to New York and then drove back home.
The whole trip took just under two weeks, and we saw so many cities and states. We also spent a lot of time trying to sight see in wind, rain, ice and snow.
We’re California people, and we’re just not used to that kind of weather! Pair that with not getting enough sleep, not eating as healthy as we could, and interacting with all kinds of people and germs from all over the country? Well, that’s a perfect storm for getting sick.
My husband got taken down early in the trip, and we loaded up on vitamins and cold remedies on one of our stops. Then our 4 year old wasn’t feeling well, and our oldest too. But they recovered after soup and medicine and loads of vitamins, and we were able to fit in everything we wanted to do on our trip. But on the last leg home (From Texas through Arizona) my husband was really struggling. I ended up doing most of the driving while he slept. On the last day he was in bad shape and we dropped him off at our local ER before we even stopped at the house. (A virus had turned into a bad sinus infection and he was treated.)
The next day, I woke up feeling like death. And my poor husband who was trying to recover while working from home (to avoid infecting his coworkers) had to pick up my slack. Like I said, I never get more than a little cold.
I spent the next three days in bed, asleep. I couldn’t eat or drink or move and was so lethargic. I got worried and finally thought I should go to the doctor.
That virus that finally took me down gave me a throat infection! Holy moly, I do not wish that pain on anyone. It took me a full week to recover, and then after the antibiotics were done and I started feeling better, I got sick AGAIN. So, back to the doctor I went, because I really didn’t want to get worse. He looked me over, and said my vitals looked good and my throat was a little red but not super swollen or raw like it was before. So he prescribed me…vitamins.
Vitamin C and Zinc to be specific. He said to pump my intake of those two up and I should feel better by the weekend.
Luckily, my friends at MegaFood had just sent me some goodies that were perfect.
Sure enough, after a few days of consistent vitamin-taking, I was feeling better. And today, I’m back to my regular healthy self again!
My new morning routine hasn’t stopped just because I’m feeling great. I’m not letting myself get that sick again. Sometimes I need a reminder (thank you phone alarm!) but I make sure to grab my Women’s multi, my Balanced B, and my Turmeric Strength for whole body. Then I make (or buy if I’m rushing) some herbal tea, since I don’t drink juice or smoothies (keto diet), and I add a scoop of my Daily C.
Thanks to MegaFood, I’m closing the Nutritional Gap so that I can stay healthy all year long. And I’m making it a pledge, so that I can help others too. And because they have products for men and children as well, I can make sure my whole family is covered.
What is a Nutritional Gap?
From the MegaFood site:
Hate to break it, but no matter how many bunches of kale and bushels of beets you’re cramming into your diet, your body hungers for more nutrition. We call that the gap: it’s the difference between what you’re getting and what your body needs. Multivitamins made with real, farm fresh foods help you mind that gap and get on to your best (and baddest) self.
Make the Pledge with Me!
Make the pledge too by visiting the MegaPledge page! MegaFood will donate 1 bottle of Multis for every pledge (up to 20,000) to someone in need. Plus, they’ll make a donation to the non-profit Wholesome Wave, in the equivalent of 2 servings of fresh fruits & veggies per pledge for those in need.
Not only will it make you feel great helping others while helping yourself, but the first 20,000 pledgers will receive a $5 off coupon and all will be entered for a chance to win a year’s supply of Multis and an ahh-mazing wellness getaway just for pledging! Score!
MegaFood is kicking off their pledge program with a day of LIVE Facebook chats, tomorrow Feb 7th! You’ll hear from experts about finding the right supplements and minding the nutritional gap. You can join in live here!
I’m excited to make a pledge for my own health and to hopefully help start a trend of healthy habits in my family and hopefully in my community as well.
